This was absolutely the worst product I have ever purchased and the worst customer "service".

This nightmare safe not only has the batteries inside so if they fail you cannot replace them, it is also so poorly built that I am sure the flimsy plastic battery cover fell off twice and the batteries got dislodged. Ergo - safe won't open and contents inaccessible.

It cost me hundreds of dollars to retrieve my valuable documents. You'd think the company would at least have the grace to respond and apologize. E-mail to customer service and two separate delivery confirmed letters one to the CEO and one to the legal department went completely unanswered.

It's really disgraceful!

Still doesn't help the fact that the safe is not working right and im out 150. When I buy something new I expect it to work.

Worst company ever, but at least CS did respond.. They said push up and down on the door and that should help...They were right it did help, but i bought it with the intent of a quick access. "Hold on a min dude I know you want to rob me, can you please wait ten min so I can fight to get my pistol out of my safe.

TO MAGEE AND ANYONE ELSE THAT DECIDES TO POST, PLEASE READ before posting:

A warranty is a warranty, hence the reason you send in parts on a safe to ensure it is inoperable. What?

$5.00 to put parts in a box and get a brand new safe? I've dealt with this company twice with REMARKABLE customer service with full knowledge of their items unlike ANY of the 5 companies that sell fire rated units.

So, before you decide to post about this company, open your minds do your research and ask the company directly instead of falsely slamming this them. They are the ONLY company in the USA with a USA call center and know more about fire rated units, besides they've been in business for 75 plus years ALL IN THE UNITED STATES.

Bought a Sentry safe and have been on the phone with them for three days trying to get the thing open. Although I am very frustrated, their customer service reps have been professional and friendly. I am hoping for satisfactory conclusion and will let all know the results fairly and accurately.

I have a 3 year old gun safe. Combination type. Use it for hunting and gun cleaning so I have opened it about 6 or 7 times since I've owned it. Called Cust serv(kelly) and got a girl who told me that it happens quite often that the tumblers get "off" and that a close combination usually works. Ok she gave me a series of other combos to try. None worked. Called back and stood in the cold garage while Josh took me thru a numerous

series of spins and then different combos that "should have" worked. When none of them did 1 1/2 hrs later, I said what would the next step be. Was told call a locksmith/safe smith to have it drilled open. What???

Then what? "well you'll have to buy another because the safe will be no good. Ok, so I pay 100 and some bucks to get it rebroken then another 400. for a new safe? They could have at least paid for a locksmith to drill it open so I could get hunting. Or maybe someone to haul that 500 lb mass of steel away after it was drilled and useless? Was offered 15% off a new safe. Are they kidding? Anyway being that I bought it at Home Depot I will go there and ask about customer satisfaction on this product (if they in fact still sell it). Will also get a certified letter to CEO of the company and try to get some satisfaction and explain my displeasure with a 400. product that opens 6 or 7 times then not at all. Was never offered any kind od warranty when it was purchased by Home Depot or Sentry. Why, I wonder. Will let you all know how I make out.

I have a lot to say about what the cust serv mngr said to me (not very nice) but thats another story.

The company eventually came through and handled the situation for me.

The Sentry Safe Key Pad product certainly isn't "safe".................

I'm throwing it out the window.

Yes, unfortunately a safe with a key lying about is not that safe and if you need the content fast - as I did - you cannot wait for the rigmarole of getting another key... The fact remains that it is shoddily made, that putting the batteries inside is pure idiocy and that several e-mails and letters to the company went unanswered. If you read other posts and other sites you'll see I am not alone in thinking this company and its safe are for the birds.

I was on this site a few days ago because I had something simular happen to me and I was trying to figure out what to do...I read your post and just decided to call the company. I spoke to a young man that explained that safes that have the batteries on the inside of the safe come with override keys....which I locked in my safe! The young man explained that I had to take a form to my bank and have it notarized showing that I actually bought the safe...I argued until he told me it was for security purposes and he sent me the form and explained that lost keys normally cost $15 but since I made a simply mistake and the safe was new to me he waived the fees...I sent in the form and got my keys and the safe opened!
